Reader, This email is a bit raw, I'm not gonna lie. A few weeks ago, I started getting sick. I was lethargic, my recovery and HRV was down, without explanation. Then the fevers kicked in - 9 straight days curled up in a ball on the couch. Oscilating from freezing cold, to sweating through my clothes and bed. My wife, who's a doctor was very worried - "this is not normal." 3 blood tests revealed spiked liver and kidney enzymes. Tested negative for all viral and tick born disease. Then I got pneumonia, and I was completely shut down. I haven't been this sick since I got mono in high school and lost 17 pounds in 10 days. I'm still weak, still not back to normal Old me would have been a bitter, pissed off mess focused on all the wrong things: Can't work out because I take 3 steps and I'm out of breath Not "productive" But you know what? I'm HAPPY. Because I did the work to re-orient my perspective on everything in my life - Dr. Richard Boyatzis (the pre-eminent researcher on intentional change) calls this the Positive Emotional Attractor. BTW: I just interviewed Richard on my Breaking Work Podcast! You're gonna want to listen to this one. Now I'm focused on: Light that 🔥, P.S.
